Amateurs welcome to contribute?
The more I read the introductory materials in TaxAlmanac, the more it seems that only "tax professionals" are invited to contribute to this site. Is this the intent? Should I, merely a well-informed layman, refrain from answering questions and making other contributions? If so, please spell this out in an easy-to-find policy. - Rlw: Anyone is welcome to participate here, not just tax professionals! I've seen your contributions and I think you're doing a great job - we need more people like you to join in. We do encourage all users to post a little bit about themselves on their personal user page. This allows others to find out a little bit about your qualifications when they see something that you've posted. Simply click on your username in the very upper part of the screen or click on the Rlw link in your signature. Once, there, edit that page and replace what's there with anything you'd like. Please know that we welcome and encourage you to participate here!

Updated Participation Guidelines
This website is TaxAlmanac, a free online tax research resource and community for tax professionals. It was developed by Intuit, the makers of the professional tax preparation products Lacerte and ProSeries – software packages that professional tax preparers use for providing services to their clients.
Participation in the tax and accounting discussion forums on TaxAlmanac is limited to tax or accounting professionals only. Questions asked by those perceived not to be professional preparers are subject to being moved to the Consumer Forum. The consumer forum was added in late 2008, at the request of the community, and the guidelines for participation in the tax and accounting forums were updated at that time.
The professionals who use TaxAlmanac to interact with their fellow professionals will sometimes reply to the questions in the Consumer Forum with a suggestion or comment, but that is not the primary intent of this site.
