This page is where you can leave a message for Trillium. Trillium will be notified of messages the next time they access TaxAlmanac.
Please make sure to sign your message by adding four tildes: ~~~~ at the end of your message.
If you are actually Trillium, this is your page. Feel free to edit your discussion page to add or remove anything you'd like.
It will be interesting to see if this remains civil, as I intend it to be.
I see no need to issue a warning before blocking, do you?

If the poster had been a prior user/contributor and had a profile indicating that he was a tax pro, then I would have deleted the spam and issued a warning. Kevinh5
I'd say just move it to the General Chat forum
and leave it there. Not an article, I agree. Kevinh5
business owner?
I think he is definately doing his own taxes, based on his history. But his profile lists him as a bookeeper/tax preparer (although again, I think those are for his own entities. I'd say it is OK to move them to the consumer forum or not, whichever you want. I have already moved Puru's. Kevinh5
I see....
I see you noticed our buddy Puru was back today!!! I saw that this morning as well! Oh well, it was too good to last.

User name change
Thanks for your response regarding the user name change that I requested. I'll just go with the easier option by creating a new account.
Thanks,

Just noticed your comments today. Sorry I wasn't aware of policy. The footnote below this window says "Please note that all contributions to TaxAlmanac may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors. If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly, then don't submit it here." I don't remember the specific comments any more, but I assumed meant that I had some leeway in removing what I thought was irrelevant. Olycraig 19:01, 29 January 2009 (CST)
I may be hot against consumers, but
this guy chaps my behind: Discussion:S Corp Expenses Passed to Sole Member? Kevinh5
please look at
Questions on Selling your tax practice?, but before you do anything also look at the message I left him a few weeks ago. User talk:Brnaab Where do we draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable? He just left me a message on my talk page also. User talk:Kevinh5 I think that this topic would be good to have in the Business Growth forum. Kevinh5
Also
I like your change to the Consumer Forum, but I believe that we still have to have stronger wording early in the Create An Account process. Once someone's got a user name, they will find a way to post. We have to prevent them from ever getting a user name. You don't need a user name in order to read prior discussions or articles. Kevinh5
Contributer recognition
How does one get recognized as a Silver/Gold/Platinum contributor? Is that something done on your end? Olycraig 11:36, 30 January 2009 (CST)
can you be a little more encouraging
in your post to start a new discussion? Maybe give him guidance to make it not sound like an ad? I hate to just keep deleting since I do think he has something useful to contribute. Thanks.Kevinh5

LOL- yes, I had to remove it if I was going to award one to anyone else. Kevinh5
Exposing spammers
Trillium Would it be possible for the moderators to post the screenname of scammers so the rest of us can erase from our memory the posts we may have read before they were deleted? Taxea
Thanks Trillium....I remember the 1099 discussion as going on for some time and getting so off subject. Glad you found him. I just wonder how much of my time I have wasted on these idiots. I try not to respond to super basic questions because to me they obviously aren't pros. I have been "yelled at" for referring these basic questions to Pub 17. Guess there are those on this forum who have time to do the research on such basic stuff. It's a shame the forum can't ask people registering to answer some basic questions before they accept them as a pro. taxea
I hope it prompts a profile.
I don't know that I believe him either, based on the recent thread, but his prior threads indicated some tax knowledge. We all know that there are 'experts' here who know absolutely everything except the correct answers to the various questions. Kevinh5
thanks
Trillium,
Thanks for the info. You have helped me save my client a lot of money.
I also updated my profile. Willeytaxes 16:41, 8 February 2009 (CST)
Trillium,
I just logged on and noticed your message. That would be fine to change my login from Newarcher to Brock And Associates.
Thanks for the help!

TA's "stars"
Now, Trillium, do you really think I didn't know how you felt about the forum awards before I read Kevin's user page tonight? As you noted, I've been around here for a while. In any case, I am happy to have one.Natalie 01:04, 11 February 2009 (CST)Natalie
I had forgotten about the award process. (Uh-oh, did I just admit I don't know all?) I'm glad to see all the work you're doing with the old discussions. I hope you are leaving enough time in the day to do other things though (like sleep). Natalie 01:25, 11 February 2009 (CST)Natalie
no need to blush
those are indeed the ones I was referring to (and then some). Kevinh5
Thanks for the link
Trillium -
Thanks for the link to the NY Times article about printing money. I'm forwarding it along to others who are also interested.

Searching, Searching, Searching
Aloha Trillium, when I searched for cafeteria plans, I most likely had the phrase in quotes, and would have searched as both singular and plural. I would not have changed anything at the top of the page, that's something I'll try in the future. Thanks for your interest and the suggestion. Actionbsns 12:34, 16 February 2009 (CST)
Long user names can be problematic
No problem. I will create a new user name.

Thank you
Hi Trillium,
Thank you for your advice. I did go to the test page and it still does not work properly for me. When I first tried to edit my page it was here at work. I received the following. I thought it could be because of the firewalls and security that we have in place. So, when I got home last night I tried it again but I still received the same message.
The following is what I got inside a small window:
File Download
Do you want to save this file?
Name: index.php type: Unknown file Type, 277 bytes From: www.taxalmanac.com
there were also two buttons: save and cancel
But thank you for your advice and help. I am still digging around the site and testing things out.
Let's just say that I am now fully addicted to this site.
Genskitty
Thank you for your help. Not quite sure how to proceed with editing my profile, but I will figure it out with help fro my daughter who understnads all of this.
Was fun however, to have a message already.

Practice Management Forum
Trillium, It was IRSfixer that mentioned a Practice Managment fourm and I seconded the idea. It was actually suggested that there be a Practice Management forum instead of placing these types of questions in the BG forum. Crow made an excellent agruement for the Practice Management forum opposed to BG.
Refer to Tax Practice thread.

Can you delete my unnecessary userID
Can you delete BrockAndAssociates (no spaces)....obviously I accidentally used it today.
Thanks, Michael
Thanks Trillium. I realized my mistake after hitting the save button. I then sent an update to tax questions. Thanks for the quick reply. Chris
