Wife and I are seperated. We file married jointly. Put her new address on tax returns and never seen the federal check. said she needed the money and cashed it.I never signed it. can anything be done aabout this?
                                  thanks

It sounds like she probably endorsed and cashed the check. If that is the case, it is forgery. Depending on how much money that you are talking about you might want to press charges & find some means to recover funds.

Most banks would accept the check to her separate account with no endorsement or just her signature on the back. This would not then be forgery. Banks are not real careful about this stuff, with the millions of checks coming through their accounts.

Talk to a attorney about what can be done.

Wife are always taking advantages on us. If kids are in the middle, or just a couple of hundreds, forget it . Too much time and hassles.
