I would like to know why a 1040x is disallowed for 2002 if it is filed in 2005?

If it was an additional refund claimed, the statute is 3 years from the due date of the return, or 2 years from the date the tax is paid. IRS considers the tax paid (credited) on 4-15-2003 for a 2002 tax return.

Refile. Due date for 2002 is 4/15/2003 plus 3 years equals 4/15/2006. What was the amendment for? Loss carryback?
