Christy

I had the "question" about this years same-sex Fed returns.

I did not mean to offend anyone, I was not mad, angry or pissed off.

I have to stop using CAPS to merely define words, texting (in any form) has taken that over to mean yelling, so i am told by my son.

It was just an observation.

BruceH

ps I found how to "self-designate" my page with CPA. Now how do i get it in the right corner.

CPA, EA, Atty et al are merely letters, it is the konwledge and commitment to clients we serve that is important to me.

I am also a member of the EA Society, for knowledge and learning.

Good advice

I didn't want to put it on the main board, but I am a diabetic (Type 2). My eye doctor actualy told me to walk 45 minutes a day, which I am capable of doing, except it does result in a lot of territory covered unless you walk in a smaller circle. The problem is I live in a city environment, so I don't know if I am picking up more carbon monoxide than oxygen. But the walking does increase the muscle mass and you burn carbohydrates more efficiently.

So I do try to walk each day, but I have to admit I don't make my 45 minutes. But I will definitely get myself to the eye doctor this year and stop avoiding a yearly appt. Thanks Christy, take care. CrowJD 11:30, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Spoofing episode on this site, involving your user ID

Hi, Christy - I don't know if you've been aware of the caching and spoofing issues the site has been having for a while, but basically, something will get posted to the site by person A, but it shows up as having been posted by person B. This happened a couple of times tonight, involving your user ID.

Earlier this evening, TexCPA posted something and it showed up as being posted by you. Then, a while later, your user ID was shown as author of some spam/vandalism of the Consumer Forum. NOTE - we know that wasn't you!!! We fixed the vandalism and will watch out for more.

This is not due to anything on your end of the userID. From what we've been told by Tom Doyle at Intuit, it's all about how the site is set up and how much they're using caching of activity to try to improve site efficiency. Tim's team has to tweak the settings every once in a while to stop this issue from happening (at least that's how I understand it). When it's out of whack, posts show up as being by the wrong people, and apparently also spammers can take advantage of that to play their games.

Others who have had this happen have changed their passwords, but since the posts aren't actually being made by your user ID, they just appear that way, you really don't need to do this; there's no reason to suspect that your password was compromised. Since most of the caching problems involve userIDs of people who were actually online and posting just prior to the events, it's possible that being logged out could help you to avoid having your user name "attached" to other posts - but that's just my non-techie observation.

Sorry for any inconvenience; please let me know if you want more info.

Password reset

No, sorry, that isn't something I have access to. You could try Tim Doyle at Intuit (User talk:Tdoyle), although he's not always online.

From what Tim has told us, the user IDs involved in this spoofing or caching issue are not actually being accessed by the other party, so they would not have had the opportunity to change your e-mail. So I wonder if the password reset system is just being glitchy. (For example, I know that the "recover password" system is not very functional, so other glitches wouldn't surprise me.)

Sorry, I really wish I could offer you better support in this area, but unfortunately I have no other suggestions.

(Way back) When construction corporations were dissolved after projects. . . were they subsidiaries of a "permanent" corporation that obtained bonding and bid for work. I have wondered if a corporation for each significant project would be worthwhile for my clients, but I cannot get any feedback from bonding agents on how that would affact their bonding capacity OR the ability of a contractor to shift a project (and it's attendent liabilities)to a subsidiary. Thanks for your reply in regards to the MFS deceased client whose husband wanted copies of her prior years tax returns. It seemed obvious that it would be a breach of confidentiality unless husband was executor, but I needed to have some confirmation. Thanks again.

2006 mes

Christy, thanks for your reply to my post, and your well wishes! (That's tongue in cheek, by the way). Yes, there was money made in both businesses... about $100,000 net . Yes, there is a retainer to start. And yes, there are books... actually a Quickbooks file for each corporation. There are also lots of paper receipts and handwritten ledgers, which don't match the QB totals. (You get the idea.) As to "too many issues to discuss here", one may be the fact that they used the corporate checkbooks to pay lots of personal bills. Neither spouse had other income. So, yes, I've got a mess on my hands... but one I can't simply wipe away. That said, my strategy is to file 1120s to remove about $25,000 of self employment tax. Given your experience, which I respect, what recommendations would you give? Thanks in advance

FYI regarding a 2/28 post about an EA exam question

I know that you often like to respond to questions about the exams, but before you respond to this one, check the guy's user page... seems he's using our input to try to develop a question bank (which he doesn't actually disclose in the discussion itself), and as such setting himself up as a competitor for you. Not that this would necessarily stop you from responding. Just thought you should be aware of it before posting, rather than later.

CPE on disabled family members

Aloha Christy, You had posted on your website a while back that you were preparing a CPE course addressing disabled family members and taxes. I'm just curious if you have that available yet? Thanks. Actionbsns 01:27, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

CPE

Hi Christy,

I saw your note on action's user page about the CPE ... I was also following the CPE by looking at company website. You may want to add your comments to the post because others may be also looking for the CPE.

DPAD

I have a new client who is a surveyor. Would he qualify for the DPAD?

I've been goading them to speak for some time, but they won't!

Tw, first, I enjoyed your post on the Doma thread.

I've been throwing out absurd (and fictional) remarks about women for at least 4 years now to to wake up the women around here and get them to help me. I thought I could needle them into speaking out. You've been one of the few who have stepped in from time to time to help push back the forces of darkness which show up from time to time on this forum.

Regarding the Doma thread, did you see my remark (as Gazoo) earlier in that thread? Here it is: "As I said above, the right wing ding-a-lings are showing signs of heroin withdrawal since they thought they'd have the gays to whip up on just like they controlled the women and the blacks, and the Bible was used as excuse each and every time."

I have also mentioned the Christian Domestic Discipline Movement recently on the chat page. It is not surprising to me that this movement is coming up just now in America. It is an unfortunate fact that as some of these uptight white conservative Christian man begin to understand that they can't bash the gays in polite company any more, they will go home and take out their frustrations on their wives and girlfriends.

Here is the website for that insane group: http://learningdd.com/ Huffington Post and many other news outlets have been running articles about this "movement" just this past week.

Ironically, a win for the gays in America could end up as a private hell for some women on the home front.

This is about power to this kind of man, and if he perceives he is losing power, he will turn back to abuse the weakest link (in his mind) in the chain. P.S. I understand that you run a business in the larger tax community and I understand that sometimes you have to perhaps button your mouth when you wouldn't normally choose to do so otherwise. Take care, and may the force be with you. CrowJD 06:25, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
