Please review TaxAlmanac's advertising policies & limitations on self-linking

Earlier today, you bumped a question from 2008 to add a post with a link to an article on your own site... that post has been removed in accordance with the site policies. (This is consistent with a comment you received on your old userID, as well.)

You can review the policies here:

In case I haven't yet thanked you for switching to this shorter name, I'll do that now: Thanks, it's truly appreciated.

Thanks,

Short answer

A full response will have to wait until later*, but the short answer is that linking to your blog is wrong, unless an unrelated/neutral 3rd party would have selected that link as the best response. Given that you answered a 2008 question, that's a very high bar to pass. Even on current questions, it 'd be tough, unless by the very nature of your posts here - over the course of many months/years - you'd established yourself as the site "expert" on an area, so much so that others were already linking to your blog anyway.

More later.

*Upon reviewing this last night, I didn't end up with much to add... other than thanks for your response yesterday. Trillium 13:39, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry STG...the first line of my post was for you the rest of it was for the OP. I neglected to preface that part to separate the two statements.Laura taxea

You may have heard by now that the Tax Almanac ( www.taxalmanac.org ) web site forum is permanently closing its doors effective June 1. Perhaps you have seen the pink bombshell “Important Service Announcement” when logging in.

Long-time TA user ChrisV2 has volunteered to set up a new website where TA users may continue the discussion. The site is up and running now and has an active base of contributors.

We invite you to take a look www.taxprotalk.com and join your fellow TA refugees.
