Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to TaxAlmanac! My name is Tim Doyle and I serve here in the role of TaxAlmanac Moderator. If you haven't done so already, you might want to review our Quick Start Guide to help you get oriented.

As you begin to interact on TaxAlmanac, your changes will be linked to this page, your personal user page. We encourage you to edit this page and add a short description about yourself. This will allow others to better understand your background and qualifications as they review any replies or information that you submit. I see that you've already added information to your user page - thank you!

If you have tax-related questions, we encourage you to add them in our Tax Questions Discussion Forum. We also suggest that you introduce yourself to the other members of the TaxAlmanac community on the User Introduction Discussion Forum.

If you can think of anything we can do to make TaxAlmanac a more useful resource to you, please feel free to give us your feedback on the TaxAlmanac Feedback Discussion Forum.

I hope you enjoy being a member of the TaxAlmanac community! If you have any questions, see the help pages or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

E-file 1099s

You might want to check the IRS' website http://www.irs.gov/efile/lists/0,,id=100422,00.html. They have a list of vendors. I've used taxsoftware.com and filetaxes.com.Natalie 17:40, 2 January 2008 (CST)Natalie

ATNOL carryover

I was wondering if you were ever able to resolve this issue. I seem to be having the same problem. I have a regular NOL for 2006 of 177,000. the carryover worksheet for 2006 shows nothing for ATNOL, but it seems that amount is supposed to be manually entered in my program (it's not a calculation).

I would appreciate any assistance you can give me to this dilema.

Intuit dispute

Hi JD, I've moved your thread to the General Chat forum, as it is not really a tax question. Kevinh5

Hi, JD

Wanted to let you know, in case you hadn't realized - your user profile was apparently erased at some point in 2008 and hasn't been restored as of yet. Lots of the TaxAlmanac members like to refer to the profile before answering questions, and not all of them know how to check the history of the user page (by clicking the "history" tab at the top) to see that there used to be a profile there. You might want to go back in and put some info on the page, so that you don't get ignored by people who assume a blank profile means you're not a tax pro.

To edit the page, go to the "user page" tab at the top of the page, then click "edit this page" and make your changes. Click the "show preview" button at the bottom of the page to check out how it looks, and then click the "Save page" button. You can also add a box to show your CPA designation, if you want - the info on how to do that is in the FAQ discussion - top sticky discussion on the Tax Forum page.

Thanks,

Other avenues

I know you've been on TaxAlmanac a long time - have you ever had any interaction with Tim Doyle, the moderator? He's not on the Proseries team, and not in customer service, but I wonder if he'd have any ideas for finding the right person to talk to. Check his user page and talk page, he may have an e-mail or other contact info listed; worst case you could put a note on his Talk Page. Also, I have a vague recollection from some older discussions that you may get a different call center based on the time of day you call... maybe try early in the morning if you usually call in the afternoon? (Maybe that's not even valid anymore; I just feel for you and wish there was more we could do here than just sympathize.)

I've moved your discussion over to the PM/BG forum; sorry for any inconvenience on that. You can still get to the discussion via the "my contributions" link at the top right corner of your screen.

PS - thanks for getting some info about yourself back onto your user page/profile. If you want to add the credentials boxes that indicate you're a CPA, etc., and I think at one time you'd even earned a user award, you can check the history tab on your user page to see what you'd need to add to get them to show again. I'll try to put a link here, but if this doesn't work, it's the revision as of 17:48, 14 February 2007 that you want - go to that, click the "edit this page" tab, and you'll see the first four lines deal with the fancy boxes. Copy all four lines, including the brackets, and paste them to the current version of your user page. Here's my attempted link: http://www.taxalmanac.org/index.php?title=User:JDcpa&action=edit&oldid=147990

Hi JD,

I work with Thomson and can help you evaluate UltraTax CS. I have helped a lot of firms transition to UltraTax from ProSeries. Give me a call!

ProSeries problems

JD - I have been having similar problems as yours. I spoke with a guy from Intuit last week and it appears that he was able to handle a lot of the issues. He is actually with the QuickBooks ProAdvisor side, but their database covers all of Intuit. His name is Michael Mendoza...Michael_Mendoza@intuit.com 800-498-7401, x87321. He was stateside and very cooperative and helpful.
