Posting in the Chat forum

Hi, your new question on the LTHB credit was just posted into the Chat forum. Did you mean to put it into the Tax Forum?

Could you please let me know - did you go through the tax forum to start your question, and did you see the four steps to “asking a new tax question” page?

I have been wondering if people are seeing that page, and then when they get to the bottom, they're clicking on the bottom-most link to start a new discussion, even though that link starts Chat Topics and not tax questions. If that's the case, we're going to need to fix that page so it's easier to understand.

So it'd be helpful to know if that happened to you. You can leave me a note by clicking on my name below and following the links to leave me a message.

Thanks,

PS - I think that Notice 2009-12 should be on point for you - your 2 married TP are not married to the trust, clearly, so if you consider the couple and the trust as unmarried TP, then according to Notice 2009-12 you can allocate the entire credit to someone who is eligible for the credit, e.g., your TP couple. Are you certain that they didn't buy from a related party, though? I'll add this info to your discussion later - my main point in leaving this note from you was to get feedback on the "4 steps" page and/or why you posted into Chat. Thx

Moved your discussion to the tax forum

Thanks for the feedback. I had been noticing an up-tick in the number of tax questions being posted to Chat, and had started to develop a theory that you have now confirmed (small sample size, but I'm going to run with it anyway). I'll make some changes to the "4 steps" page to try to help make it easier to see which links go to the tax forum (people are too busy right now to deal with confusing formatting).

And your question is now in the tax forum; I moved it over there from chat.

Cumma sum laude?

Karri, I almost hate saying anything about this, but is this what you meant to put in your bio? I did pretty well in grad school but not summa, magna or any cum laude. LJACPA 09:17, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

I am so sorry!

Karri, I apologize that I worded my comment so poorly. I wouldn't even begin to doubt anyone's accomplishments. In my sad attempt at humor to let you know that you had transposed (I guess that's the word to use) summa cum laude as cumma sum laude in your bio I apparently made it sound as if I was questioning your degree. I've enjoyed reading your comments and discussions and when I read your bio noticed the typo I just thought you might want to correct this and I didn't do a very good job of it. Again, I apologize and respect what you have achieved (I never could...).LJACPA 01:22, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
