Hi, I'm Gail Fisher, CPA, a tax manager in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC.

OICs - Tax Court

Dear G Fisher:

Greetings - we are neighbors. I work for Dan Rosefelt, Esq. an Attorney and CPA - at two Democracy Center.

I am continually amazed by the change in attitude of Agents when they are speaking to an Experienced Tax Attorney, willing to go to the mat in Tax Court, than us CPAs.

If you have a serious case - and the client is willing to pay - view the website at ""

Moved one of your discussions over to Practice Mgt forum

Hi, Gail - You started a question yesterday about year-end client letters. That's a topic that's probably better suited for the Business Growth/Practice Management forum, but since you'd started it in the tax forum I left it there to see if it got some activity there prior to being moved. It did get one response, but now it's down toward the bottom of pg 1, so I'll move it now and see if it gets a resurgence of interest in the other forum. I have the impression that there are some people who only read the BG/PM forum, and don't bother with the tax forum for one reason or another - plus the people that read that forum have more interest in this kind of thing anyway.

You can still get to the discussion by clicking on the "my contributions" link at the top right of your screen.

If you have any questions about the move, please let me know.

Copyrighted info

Hi, Gail.

Wanted to let you know - TaxAlmanac has policies about posting info that's copyrighted by others (e.g., by Checkpoint/RIA) that effectively prohibit all but the shortest excerpt - like a line, maybe - from being posted here. This is to protect both you and TaxAlmanac from getting into trouble from the copyright holders, who generally prohibit the sharing/public distribution of their research materials.

As a result, I've edited your post, here, to remove the Checkpoint quote paragraph, and referred the OP to his own research resources - if he's a tax pro, he'll likely have subscription service, and your post will perhaps provide a lead he can use. If he's not a tax pro, then he should be asking his own paid advisor anyway!

You are free to edit further, of course, if you'd rather provide some analysis or interpret the Checkpoint info in your post. See FAQ#3 for info on how to edit, or you can just add another post to the end of the discussion.

Here are the policies: Copyright policies, Contribution Terms, or Help:Adding_a_new_article (at the bottom of the page).

Thanks, and sorry to have to have edited your post,

Thank you!

Hi Gail.

You responded to my post about closing an LLC that has a negative capital account. Your reply make sense to me. I really do appreciate you taking the time to respond. It really helps to have someone else to talk things through.

I hope you have a great tax season!

End of the forum

You may have heard by now that the Tax Almanac ( ) web site forum is permanently closing its doors effective June 1. Perhaps you have seen the pink bombshell “Important Service Announcement” when logging in.

Long-time TA user ChrisV2 has volunteered to set up a new website where TA users may continue the discussion. The site is up and running now and has an active base of contributors.

We invite you to take a look and join your fellow TA refugees.
