Copyrighted info

Hi, Jim, and welcome to TaxAlmanac, the online research resource and community for tax professionals.

Sorry to have to hit you with website policies on your second post here; I'm sure you haven't surfed the site enough yet to have come across this, but - TaxAlmanac has policies about posting info that's copyrighted by others (e.g., by BNA) that effectively prohibit all but the shortest excerpt from being posted here. This is to protect both you and TaxAlmanac from getting into trouble from the copyright holders, who generally prohibit the sharing/public distribution of their research materials.

As a result, I'll be editing your post to remove the 3-paragraph BNA quote, and will either paraphrase its contents, link to an IRS source of the same info if readily available, or (if the remainder of the post can stand alone), just mark it as "copyrighted contents removed." You are also free to edit further to improve any paraphrase or to delete the copyrighted info if I haven't gotten to it yet. See FAQ#3 for info on how to edit.

Here are the policies: Copyright policies, Contribution Terms, or Help:Adding_a_new_article (at the bottom of the page).
