Hello, my name is Tom and I go by the nickname Cotopop. I am retired from a life of corporate tax, internal audit, controllership and many other finance disciplines at a Fortune 500 company for 33 years. I have prepared personal income taxes for 40 years but only the last 6 years for a fee. I successfully passed the EA exam in November 2008 on my first try. I work out of my home in south Orange County, Ca and specialize in large personal returns with a mix of sole proprietor, subchapter S, Partnership, and Trust returns.

I have only about 60 clients and feel fortunate that I can hand-pick my clients. I am supposed to be retired, as my wife frequently reminds me, but enjoy what I am doing. I think I have found the right balance between tax work and retirement. I find the most enjoyable part about taxes is long-term strategic tax planning to mitigate taxes.

I am also very active with AARP Tax Aide during the tax season as an instructor and Local coordinator at two sites.

I am a member of the NAEA, California Society of Enrolled Agents, and my local chapter in Orange County.
