Main Page Discussion

Would you like to talk about what's on the main page? Want to see something there that isn't now? This is where you would tell us. Simply click on the edit tab (at the top) to edit the whole page or the little plus sign "+" next to it to add a new section.

Current discussions

Does the list of current discussion topics on the main page get updated automatically or manually? If manually, can I "promote" my favorite discussions by adding them to the top of the list? -- rlw (Talk) 17:57, 9 January 2006 (CST)

Oh, never mind. I just noticed the main page is locked. In that case may I ask for more frequent updating of the current discussion topics list? -- rlw (Talk) 17:59, 9 January 2006 (CST)
The list of current discussions has been converted to be dynamic - it is now always up to date. - Tim Doyle, TaxAlmanac Moderator 13:52, 11 February 2006 (CST)

Foreign owner in a partnership

I am working with a partnership in which one of the owners is a foreign corporation. This is the first year of operation for the partnership. They recorded a loss in 2006. Does the foreign corporation need to file something in addition to the partnership return? The foreign partnership currently has no FEIN. The IRS help-line has given me conflicting instuctions.

Autos owned by partnerships

I have a client who wants to buy a car and include the monthly car payments as guaranteed payments. The partners want the partnership to buy the cars. I have not seen a partnership that owns cars for the partners to use. By the way the business use would not be greater than 50%. I would like to see the partners buy the cars themselves and get reimbursed for business mileage. However, the partners most likely cannot get personal loans to buy the cars. They are a newly formed partnership and have guaranteed their LOC. Has anyone seen a partnership own cars and include personal usage as a guaranteed payment?
