RE MA Health Ins penalty-Taxpayers are filing an amended 2010 return to claim their adult child who in 2010 had AGI of less than $3,000. We are filing an original return for the child-of course he wont be claiming himself. All is well with the Fed but what happens in MA? He did not have health coverage in 2010. His income is so low that had he filed and claimed himself, he would have avoided the penalty. But, what happens if he is claimed as a dependent on his parents return? He is 23 yrs old. Any insight would be really helpful. Thanks!
