Hi Tim. I am SO happy (and relieved) to have found this website. I read the other post about being insecure on your own and it's true. Getting feed back and added confirmation and guidance on tax issues that I'm encountering for the first time is helping to build my confidence. One person can't know ALL of the tax regs in depth but does need to know where to find the answers. TaxAlmanac it a great benefit to accountants and tax preparers as well as their clients!

I love it - it's very helpful and a great place to find answers to tough questions I don't always know. Much appreciated and enjoy the feedback from others.

I agree. Sometimes you can read tax law and interpret in a different way than others. It is nice to have the different views and sometimes someone with more experience to give feedback.

Thanks!

I cannot agree more!! This is such a wonderful site! Being on my own, it's sometimes hard when you have a question, think you know the answer, but there's always that little voice adding doubt! The people who have helped me have just been terrific!! I thank the Good Lord for my having come across the site!! THANK YOU ALL!!!

I am really glad to have TaxAlmanac available. Being totally on my own, I'm left to my own interpretations of some difficult tax law. Having TaxAlmanac around is kind of like being in a large firm where you can bounce ideas off other firm members. Even if you can't use the answers as authoritative documentation, you are often directed to a source that can be used for that documentation and that's incredibly helpful. Please keep it around.

As a preparer in a small town it is hard to ask fellow colleagues for advice/confirmation. I'm glad this is professionals helping professionals. The tax code is so complicated it is hard to interpret it uniformly by yourself. Every situation seems to have a unique quality which adds to the mix!

Thanks and blessings!

I also am very glad to have this site to go to. It gives us a start in the right direction on some questions. and should there be a wrong answer, someone is very quick to come along with the right one. There aren't alot of schools or places to find answers. And the IRS certainly isn't much help, besides being on hold forever. I have found NATP to be very helpful, but that can also be costly.

I have already recommended this site to several accountants. For me, what makes the site better than other tax sites is the features which accompany the tax message board. I have found the articles and practice tips to be very helpful.

I am glad to have a source to go to get answers. This is especially important for individual practitioners, who have no one to ask questions of, otherwise.

It's a good source for discussion of info, but....I'm surprised by some of the questions. When I see licensed practitioners asking very, very simple questions on topics that they simple have to know, it's disturbing. To wit, in the past 48 hours, I read a question concerning refunds on periods more than 3 years old. C'mon. If an EA, CPA or attorney isn't aware of that, there are major problems.

I also like assisting practitioners in areas about which they don't have much knowledge. I don't expect most practitioners to know much on delinquent taxes because it isn't their bailiwick. I also like that they discussions normally don't include nonsense from tax protesters.

I think the cite is very good for individual or closely held small business taxation (e.g. LLC, S-corp, trusts) but I do not see it as a resource for anything heavy duty Subchapter K - Corporations, foreign or even M&A. Personally I don't do much in terms of individual taxation so to me its great to read up on stuff that I am not aware of - keeps you sharp. Also it allows me to contribute on items that I know which you take for granted.

I also like to throw up a question to see what people know or think about something its a good way of getting a diffrent perspective. I think there are some knowledgable folks out there and its good to leverage off one another.

Finally, the only drawback to this site is that the search option is very weak hopefully it can improve.

My only problem with TaxAlmanac is it is addicting. I am losing at least an hour a day here, but I have to say, it has been well worth it. The best thing I like about it is it shows that most topics receive different, if not conflicting, viewpoints. Which means, I get ammunition that I am not the only one out there that is frustrated by tax law. Our only saving grace is that the audit rates are SOOOO low.
