Does anyone know where I can get a good summary on the web of the various tax changes for 2006, preferrably for individual taxes. Thanks

Penny: If you're a Lacerte user, you might look into the Lacerte Tax Law Training - see the link in the sponsor section on the left.

Penny, try IRS Publication 17. You can find it at the IRS web site Jmor mentioned.

Or for late night reading, you could purchase RIA's 2007 Federal Tax Handbook. It has a "what's new on the 1040" section.

Publication 553 is the Highlights of 2006 Tax Law Changes pub, but it's not available at the IRS site yet--but should be soon.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I think I will keep an eye out for publication 553.

Penny - There are many places on the web that list the tax law changes for 2006. Google is a good place to start. Search for this: Tax Law Changes 2006 (these keywords bring up 25 million pages)

You should really consider going to a Spidell seminar.

Does anyone know anything about the minimum tax being refunded from earlier years? That is the minimum tax that clients have been carrying, but have not been able to use because they are always subject to the AMT tax. I thought I read that they could start refunding this tax. Can't remember where I read this
