Spouse dies in April, taxpayer remarries in Oct. I assume I file them married with new wife, but what happens if deceased wife has w2, does she file married seperate? New one on me.

Correct. Taxpayer files jointly with new wife. Deceased wife files MFS.

Remember though that any income earned by the deceased spouse's estate that didn't pass instantly to the husband can be filed on a 1041, so she is only mfs until her date of death.

Seaside is correct. The deceased spouses' only available filing status is MFS.

The surviving spouse may file jointly with his new spouse, or MFS.
