I have actually been on TaxAlmanac quite a lot the last couple of years but often I'm too lazy to log in. I just wanted to say that I completely love you guys! xxx

As the snow falls here again, many of us on the east coast extend a hearty welcome to one of the few people who live in the islands who hasn't wailed and complained when the temperature fell below 70. We hope to see you here more often.

"wailed and complained" I just like joking around a little, D&T. I hope you don't take it too seriously.

No, Natalie. We don't take you guys in Hawaii seriously until it comes to tax stuff.

Now, just for kicks, how cold is it there?

David, how much snow are you getting? We are just getting high winds and light snow later. YIPEEEEE!

A lot of gloppy mess, Tom....an inch or two in the morning but it changed to almost rain....now the wind is blowing.....further north of here, like North Jersey, they are getting pounded. The news will report it because it happened in or near New York City.

When I commented on Hawaii and its professionals, I was trying to see who would rise to the bait.

Sounds nasty where you are.

I don't think people here could have taken another snowstorm. I could care less, but some many here are sick of it.

I know the Hawaii crowd loves to complain about how cold it is there. It must be so miserable living in paradise!

Tom, the only way I'd change living here with some place on the mainland is if I could get a big chuck of land with a little stream, lots of woods and a nice little country house for not too much money in some place not any further north than central Wisconsin. Oh, and a fireplace would be a must.

It's funny you say that Natalie. My wife and I were driving in Northwest Maryland and saw a house that had a stream, lots of woods, not sure about the fireplace, but I am sure it had one, smack dab in the middle of nowhere, MD. If it was for sale, I would have bought it, because it was perfect. Sounds like you would have enjoyed the house.

Of course, I don't have that home, so I sit here in suburbia and not in a tropical paradise. Oh, woe is me.Image:Bigsmile.jpg

Hawaii is one big gray mass this Friday morning. That's the VOG. It gets in your sinuses, throat and eyes and it makes you tired and drowsy. But if you look behind the gray mass you'll find the ocean, and right now the ocean is full of whales with jumping playful happy calves exploring the world for the first time. It's truly amazing to experience and it makes you completely forget about the VOG (and incompetent tax preparers ;-)

I love Hawaii! Oh, and you are all invited.

Nina lives just down the road from me, and she's right, the VOG and gray haze are substantial this morning. The other night was really blowy, but no rain and not cold. We REALLY need the rain. And, Nina, I have offered and offered to have these guys come visit, just because the offer has been connected with building a house or fixing up the little rental, somehow they seem reluctant to visit. Right now the temp is 10 below, which isn't too cold (for those who don't understand Hawaii temps, that means it's 70 degrees or 10 below 80 which is the average temp).

I wouldn't mind a little cold and snow once in a while. Take care all you guys back east.

SNOW! WE HAD SNOW! I was riding my bike home from up in the valley where I'd been for a number of hours, and I could hardly tell where my house was. Then I ended up in the ditch, and the snow was so soft and fluffy. It was over a foot deep! I was thinking I had to tell everyone on TA that we had snow. Then I woke up.

It snows in Hawaii almost every year, just on tall volcanoes.

Snow has been record down to 3,000 feet in elevation in the past century.

Sounds like you need a road trip. Wait no snow this season just yet.
