I've been trying all week and a last Friday to download CD3 from the Lacerte website to no avail. I spent two hours on the phone with tech support today and it still didn't work. Is anyone else having a problem with this download? Now they are telling me that my ISP is too slow, but using the same ISP, I downloaded the CD3 to my laptop just fine. The tech guy had me load the thing that makes a virtual CD, which took almost four hours to download, now I need to call back to have someone else help me to install from that. I want them to send me a CD version, but they don't want to because that version will be out of date in three weeks. But in three weeks I'd like to be busy with corporate returns. Right now I have no access to state returns yet and DRAFT is written on my federal returns. It's really frustrating.

I had no problems downloading the program. I have my internet with COX cable and it took only a couple of minutes. Sorry to hear your having such problems. Might want to have an IT guy check out your computer before you get to deep into tax season.

This has been an issue with a number of users. Does it time out? I had a problem, too. The only way I could install it was to totally turn off my computer security.

Natalie, yes it's a time out issue, and it times out in the last 90 seconds or so of the download. Yesterday, mid-day, the download was taking 25 minutes, afterhours it was taking about 12 minutes. I have my firewall turned off, and it still didn't work. The weird thing is that the lap top loaded lickety split like Michaelstar's did. But the desk top is really resisting the download. With all the W-2's and 1099's that need to be completed I just don't have a lot of time to mess about with this, but I need to. I'm hoping that the solution the tech guy gave me yesterday will work today - and not take two hours.

Interesting that you say a number of users have had this issue, because Intuit is saying they haven't experienced this much and it's all on my end. Personally, I think the one file that is timing out must have a glitch in it and nobody wants to admit that.

I had to totally turn off my security -- everything. When I had the problem, I Googled it. [1] I'm sure others did the same thing but didn't bother to leave comments.

Hallelujah!!! It finally worked. I had to turn off all security systems to make it work and it took about 12 minutes to complete.

Now let's hope the rest of the updates run smoothly, because it certainly isn't prudent to turn off our security systems.

I just realized this issue occurred with CDs 2 & 3. I just tried downloading CD 3 now, and it timed out again. (I had the problem with CD 2 before.) I guess the best way to handle this is to save the update, turn off security, unplug/disable the internet connection and then install the update.

What security are you using? I am using Norton and have had no problems downloading the newest versions.
