To everyone at Tax Almanac-

I am very happy to have found this discussion forum online. I am a 29 year old who recently graduated with my BS in Accounting. My senior year of college I found a job with a small local business as a Full Charge Bookkeeper. When I graduated, my neighbor (a financial planner) approached me about teaming up with him and his partner to offer tax and accounting services (easiest way to describe what I do even though "accountant" is a bad word in NJ unless you have your CPA). I also had the option of attempting to get into a medium size CPA firm through my father's connections/ networkings. (My father is a CPA who currently works in corporate setting) Long story short, I teamed up with my neighbor instead. I now have one full year in working with him. I think I did alright income-wise my first year, as what I made is comparable to what I would have been offered at most small/medium CPA firms.

More about me: I passed all three parts of the SEE exam at the end of 2011 and received my EA in May of this year. I graduated college at 29 because I decided to make a career change from the blue collar world when the economy had its meltdown in 2008. I figured that was the best time to be in school and took up odd-jobs to get me through it. I enjoy what I do very much.

What I do: Tax prep Payroll for small business Represented Clients before the IRS Bookkeeping for small businesses I also assist the two financial planners at work with business development and consulting/ financial planning for small businesses.

Why I am happy to be here: I am here because I would like advice on growing my EA practice. Also, my father is contemplating purchasing an existing CPA practice (if we find the right one) and I feel the advice on this forum is great from what I have seen in my snooping around thus far.

If you have any questions for me I would be more than happy to answer them!

Thanks and lets all have a great 2013!
