Hello fellow practioners.
Let me introduce myself, I am Mitchell Herbach. I have been doing taxes on a part time basis since 1976. I worked for the federal government as an accountant and auditor from 1976-1998. I "retired" in 1998 and promptly moved to Fremont, Ca (a surburb of San Fracsico, Ca). Since moving to Fremont, I have attempted to start my own practice anew. Being a newcommer to an area, it is hard to get clients. I have put adverisement in local newspapers but I feel it is very degrading especially when one starts comparing you to H & R Block. For the last few years I have been using ProSeries. on a pay as you go basis. Last year I bought the Basic version and was unhappy with it. I changed over to Lacerte this year andso far it seems better. I am always open to getting new clients or helping another tax preparer with their excess work. I have been doing 1040's with a emphasis on small business as well as some 1120 and 1120s. By the way I have two web sites, www.mherbach.com and www.taxesbyherbach.com |

Have you considered purchasing an existing tax prep business? I have 5 times and it worked out great for me. |

I have heard some good feedback on New Clients, Inc's http://www.newclientsinc.com ability to help build a practice. I beliee their approach is to solicit write-up clients and build the tax revenues from that. |
