I think that the recently completed game rivals the 1975 Game 6 in drama. The home town hero's triple (with 2 strikes) and home run, considering the Cards game long propensity to fall behind, was as unexpected as Carbo's 2 strike shot in the eighth and the 12th inning foul pole shot by Fisk.

What a ball game!

Due to the late hours, I had to quit at the bottom of the 7th, after Texas went up by 2. I wish I could've stayed up! It sounded like a very exciting game.

I only saw the highlights, but the one thing I'm curious about is why no one is ripping Cruz and his lackluster chase of Freese's 9th inning shot with 2 outs.

I mean, had he hustled, that was a very catchable ball.

I didn't get to see much of the game either but what I heard on the radio it was a line shot off of the bat which is hard to play, plus Cruz isn't exactly fleet of foot anyway. Like I said, didn't see, just reporting what I heard lol.

Of greater interest, I think...why in the name of all the baseball deities did the Cards try to steal home when bases were loaded with one out? That HAS to be the stupidest decision I have ever witnessed in a major league game. In the end, it didn't matter, but STILL...

RE: Cruz...It appeared that he was just trying to be at the same place the ball was at the same time he got there. I guess he didn't notice Berkman misjudging the fly to right and Berk had to jump a little to bring it in. As I told the 12 year old girls softball outfielders "Get to where the ball is going to be before it gets there, in case you have to make and adjustment" "BEAT IT, DON'T MEET IT ! ! ! " The 12 year old girls seemed to understand that pretty well.

I had not planned to warch any of the Series, but my wife had it on since her brother is an avid cards fan. I have been drawn into the games by the closeness of the competition. last night was a great drama even (because of) with some poor play.

NMexEA - you shouldn't criticize Larussa, he is, of course, a genius.
