I'm an hour into this, the third attempt just timed out and the LaCerte website is absolutely useless. I can't understand why one computer can download and install the update with all security systems in place, and my desktop can't seem to do so with all security systems disengaged. After an hour of wasted time, I'm really frustrated and don't really want to call tech support and spend another hour or so waiting and working with someone. The Intuit website has no e-mail function, just "IVA" which is some type of electronic response and can only answer one sentence at a time and only provided me with the basic "How to download" instructions. I'm just wondering if Intuit is working on this problem or are they just going to listen to us whine all season.

Paula, try going to 'live chat' (on the lower right hand side, I believe), instead of "talking" to Iva. There seems to be a better response there.

But it sounds like your desktop has some incompatablility issue with Lacerte that the other computer doesn't have; do you have an IT person you can call that might have some insight?

I assume you have the same antivirus software on all computers (the inter-action of Lacerte with some AV has caused me problems in the past).

Have you defragmented the hard drive recently, or done a scandisk (if that still exists in your version of Windows - is it part of Windows 7 (grasping at straws here...)? I'm wondering if perhaps there's a bad segment on your harddrive where Lacerte is being stored. Good luck

There's a discussion on this over in the Lacerte community, with several suggestions that may or may not work for you - some are the same as what Natalie suggested last time, so you already know how successful they were for you. One of the suggestions was to create a Lacerte CD from a computer that can download the file, and there's a link in there that apparently walks you through how to do that; since you have one computer that can apparently get through, maybe that solution would work for you?

And are you downloading from within the program? With one of the updates, it was suggested that you go to 'my account' directly and download from there (for some reason-size of the update I think)

Thanks, I'll try these suggestions later today. One thing the last tech guy said is that in the middle of the day, there are a lot of people on wireless networks around me and that creates some interference possibly. That said, the laptop still did it in one fell swoop at the same time the desktop was ticking me off.

Lacerte is having a lot of technical issues this year.

I always have a really tough time every year with the downloads. I always think it's my computer system.I finally resorted to having Lacerte mail me the CD. I don't know if they will do it anymore. I got the email notice that disc 4 was available for download. I'm dreading this! Hope you get it worked out. Che

I tried the download from "my account" the other day and thought it worked fine. When I opened the program, however, I was asked if I wanted to update, so now I'm not sure about the download I did from "my account." It may just be that I downloaded #3 and the update question was for #4. So, you might want to try the download from "my account" as suggested by Belle.

Update #4 worked without any problems. Nice.

Still no luck with update 4. I made an ISO disk/file this morning and tried it on the desktop with no luck. So I called La Certe and just demanded that they send out a CD. They still don't really want to do so and when update 5 is released, those having trouble are going to have to call and request disks. If they continue with this for next year, I'm going to have to make a software change I think. This program costs too much to go through this kind of grief.

I really can't figure out what is going on at LaCerte this year. They take our money, they continue to charge one of the highest rates of per use fees, and I still can't get this CD4 to download. The CD arrived just a little while ago, I set it up, disconnected all my security, just in case, started up the download and got an error message that a TFile Group from Catalog that can't be downloaded. After that, several other error messages popped up. Tried calling tech support, they are closed for the day. I'm seriously thinking about switching to new software next year. I think it's the CCH program that is quite popular write after LaCerte, I tried it a couple years ago but didn't really feel like switching companies. At this point I'm seeing less and less of a reason to stay.

Paula, I think you have something else going on with that computer. Why don't you email me the error messages you get along with the name of your security software.

I was finally able to get the upgrade to work!! My husband made another ISO disc from a computer at home and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks for your offer to help, Natalie. I wrote down the first error message and it's incredibly long, but I wanted to have it in hand if I needed to call tech support this morning. I hope CD5 is going to operate better than these last two.

Just bringing this to the top. I am going straight to the ISO disk this time around. I updated my laptop yesterday and it took almost 40 minutes, but no issues. I'll burn the ISO disk in the morning and see what happens on the desk top. Has anyone else had any problems with this upgrade?

No problems, six different computers including a laptop. I agree with Natalie, your computer seems to have an incompatability but one that isn't obvious, such as a specific antivirus program. Good luck on Moday.

Did the update with an ISO disk, no problems and only took a few minutes. I didn't have to disconnect the security systems either. Actually, I forgot about that part until just this minute. So it's done, yay!! Now I need to start thinking about software for next year. I don't want to go through this again, this software is just too costly to have these kinds of problems.
