"A young boy learns he has extraordinary powers and is not of this earth. As a young man, he journey’s to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become a symbol of hope for all mankind."

Either that, or America created Superman as an image of Jesus. A graven image maybe.

Prescription for this illness: American Jesus: How the Son of God Became a National Icon, by Stephen Prothero.

Not a graven image, but a graven icon. I would say that modern Jesus is more like a graven Rorschach card: read into him whatever you want.

There is no Jesus any more. He's up for grabs. We need some perspective here. Who's playing Jesus, Tebow?

Why can't we use our own Maggick to make Superman? Why do we have to go down to Iseal and steal the Jew's Maggick?

We have magic in Europe, why didn't we use our own? It's even more galling when you consider that Mahomet stole from the Jews too.

Maybe a jew was the first to draw Superman, but if he did, I doubt he had Jesus in mind. I mean the real Jesus was a Jew to the very end, but the Jesus we made up was a Jew hater until relatively recent times.

Where are those sites where you can set up a petition drive? I am putting forward a petition for us to use our own magic. By "OUR" I mean European, of course.

(I give LDS founder Joe Smith a little credit. He stole some of his magic from the Egyptians. He had something in common with Mahomet too, he liked just about any young fille that caught his eye. I guess religion has always been a great way to meet "women", no matter how young they are.)

Polly, I take it you are a follower of Odin, or Woden as the case may be? Well, cheer up dear, I think there is a Thor comics book that would be right up your ally. Whatever your magic is, there is a book for it, and probably a movie too. Us Catholics have put out all kinds of books and comics and movies over the years. What people wants, we sells.

Interesting points, Polly. I have always wondered over the fact that the Mahometans travel to Mecca to march in circles around a square black object because it called to my mind the Tefellin. It might save a lot of time if the Mahometans could just wear a square black box on their heads, of course you wouldn't have the tourism dollars which could be seen by some as a drawback.
