This morning is the type of morning all people come or move to Hawaii to enjoy. The skies are clear and blue, the birds are twitering and the weather is perfect. On the Kona coast we often don't have blue skies because of the volcano and its VOG. Today is just perfect, I would almost want to go out on my husband's sail boat if it didn't scare the bejasus out of me to do so. I really wish my office were at home today.

Oh, sure, rub it in.

It's over 100F here in Southern N.Mex. today. The air is full of pollen and smoke from the big Arizona blazes. I've been out for the best part of three weeks so my office (and agency) are in frantic chaos. I'd take your h's sailboat without a tremor or doubt!

I just got back from a bike ride. It's a little cloudy here. I think we're going to have rain, which we really need, so I'm not complaining.

Rain? What's that?

We got a little snow and extreme cold for a few days last winter and a short cloudburst last week and that's ALL since last Fall. That's why Arizona is burning and we'll follow suit if we don't get SOME relief SOON.

It sounds like it's time for a vacation, NMex! The clouds have gone, and the sun's out. Catch a plane today and escape that awful air and chaos at the office.

The oppressive heat wave in the East has broken and today was perfect. Clear blue sky, slight breeze and high in the upper 70's. To get to this day however, we have had 2+ weeks of near 100 degree weather, near 100% humidity, severe thunderstorms and the occasional low F scale tornadoes. Though, compared to the mid-west its been a picnic.

Snow? Actually we had snow on the mountains just two weeks ago. Seriously.

I just got back from a vacation in British Columbia. Yup, I looked into getting a law license there...could be done but I'm pretty old to be starting over. Beautiful weather and a winning season for the Vancouver Canucks.

NMex, you know how to speak Spanish, you need to look South. Start some self study on Portugese and move to Brazil.

You could probably pick up Portugese after living down there a few weeks anyway.

The money and the high living is down South and it's where the jet set is moving. Buy some property before the Chinese buy it all. Just get a place with a good breeze because it does get hot.

Don't worry about having a license, just set yourself up as an "advisor".

Portuguese is on my list, in fact, but I understand that the big complaint in Rio these days is all the obese people in tiny swimsuits. Oooooh boy, that IS NOT appetizing.

Rain? Rain is something we've had quite a bit lately in the Chicago area. Anyone want some? I'd be happy to share.

Culture corner:

"AND what is so rare as a day in June?

Then, if ever, come perfect days;

Then Heaven tries earth if it be in tune,

And over it softly her warm ear lays;"

I remember this doggerel being drummed into our memories 50 years ago or more.

I remember seeing a documentary on the owner of the Mustang Ranch on TV. Some of you might have seen it. He was accused of tax evasion and fled to Brazil.

He was one of those people who no matter what he did, he landed on his feet.

I would guess we do have an extradition treaty with Brazil today.

Norm - I think we have all lived those moments. I have at my neighborhood pool.

Crow, that has to be one of the worst songs of all time.

Nice day here in the DC area. No brothels in sight, but I know the Weiner-mobile is to be in town soon (Oscar Mayer, folks).

Tom, you have to be there to really enjoy the music. You have to get in the swing of it.

I told the Lord that I just want peace in retirement. If I could just get my wife taken care of I'd be happy. I hope she'll stay down at her sisters most of the time. I don't want to divorce her, it's just the personal contact I object to. She's best appreciated at a distance (at least half a days drive).

we are in Niagara Falls, Ontario and have been since Monday. To get on line in this park you have to get up early before everyone else tries to get on Facebook but here I am......lovely picture. I would post a picture but downloading and uploading gets you thrown off line.

The Falls is as advertised: spectacular. Last night we had dinner atop the Skylon Tower, a revolving restuarant where we partook of the 5 pm early bird for $36....I've had better meals but none in such a setting. As for the trip, we had to have the electric cord for the RV replaced at a Campers World in Bath NY (lovely place) and yesterday morning the refrigerator door fell off as a PLASTIC piece broke off the frame.....we can keep it closed and today will try to glue it back in place. Beides this, my son-in-law left us both with bad colds that keep us up at night, but today it will be the Maid of the Mist, we think.

Monday it is on to a campground near Albany, then to Bar Harbor for a few days before returning on the 3rd of July.

I feel sorry for the bird. He left work at 4:30 and he thought he'd rest on the tower for a minute but he ended up on a dinner plate instead! <G>

By the way, I'm going stir crazy down South here. The weather has been in the mid 90s and humid for days. We get a break down to the upper 80s yesterday, but only after a thunderstorm with very strong winds (gusts up to 60 mi hour). I'm dying to get outside more but it's just been extremely oppressive with this weather.

The speedy route from Albany to Bar Harbor is on the MA turnpike. But if your comfortable driving on windy 2-lane roads and don't mind driving a couple extra hours, you may enjoy heading up 87, cutting over to Rutland VT, go up 91, and taking Route 2 over to maine. You will see the farms of VT, the forests of NH and maine as well as Green and White Mountains. Gas is cheaper in NH and maine than in MA by quite a bit.

David there is a place in Kona with the best view in the world, absolutely. It sits on the top of a hill with about a 270 degree of the Kona coast and shoreline in front, and the slopes of Hualalai in the back. It would be a perfect place for a really wonderful, high end restaurant. Until a couple of years ago, it was a Wendy's!!!!! You simply could not go to another fast food restaurant and enjoy that view. It was worth the heartburn. It's been closed for awhile and a local restaurateur is supposed to open there but he seems to keep running out of money or something, It's about midway through the remodel and everything seems to be halted again. Enjoy your vacation.

We took Route 2 from just south of Bangor west to somewhere near St Johnsbury to get to Shelburne on honeymoon, but in our car, not this 32 foot monster.....and we are staying in Copake, on Rte 22, a real fun road.

Sunny today until we decided to try the Maid of the Mist....then the rain came as did perhaps 3 schools on trips....what a noisy, fun ride.
