Something very sad happened in my neck of the woods. I found out this afternoon that the store greeter at our Kroger grocery store passed away in an auto accident this week. She was a passenger in the car. She had been at the store 5 years and she was probably about 60 (or more), on her feet all day at least 4 days a week, always with a smile. A very genuine and nice person, and she had become really friendly with my mom. Of course, she tolerated my foolishness.

Well we all know this can happen, but the suddenness of this really threw me for a loop. Just passing this along as a reminder to all to appreciate all the people in your life, and don't leave things unsaid (unless they're bad things).

Sorry about the loss of a friend and acquaintance. You speak the truth.

Crow, sorry to hear about your friend. The same thing happened here a couple years ago. A drunk driver caused an accident that killed the greeter at our local Walmart. A very friendly person everyone looked forward to saying hello to. She wasn't a stalwart, vocal, community activist, she just truly enjoyed greeting everyone with a pleasant smile and welcoming them to the store. She made everyone feel as though they were her friend.

Yes. This particular lady was in the car with her grown son who was driving and her son had a seizure and then the accident occured. I don't know if they ran off the road or into another car or another car ran into them or what. According to the security guard at the store, her son is in the hospital in critical condition. Just a terrible thing all around.

You don't realize how much you miss these people until they are gone....what a sad story.
