Does anyone know how long it is taking to recieve a refund on an amended return filed now for 2008 that claims the first time home buyer credit?

I have one going on 14 weeks. Others have received their refund in 8-10 weeks.

I personally just bought a house at the end of June, submitted my amended return on July 1 and received the check in the mail on Monday, Aug 10. What is that, about 5 or 6 weeks.

We had some problems here initially as well. I read in an issue of Kiplinger that the IRS was looking closer at these refund requests and you should attach a copy of the HUD-1 statement (if there is one) to the amended return to expedite its processing. We have been doing this since, and the refunds have been coming a little quicker.

Adding search terms: FTHB first-time homebuyer amend amending

Hmmm, what else might people search on: "you know, that $8,000 credit thingy".
