It is my understanding the Social Security Administration now accepts original W-2 and W-3 forms on plain paper in black and white as opposed to the red forms. Is this true?

Yes, it's true and has been for several years. So long as they are laser-printed (not inkjet printed). See Pub 1141.

There was a discussion about this & F 1099s, and the efiling requirements earlier in the month. You might want to search for it - "Natalie" had a lot of good input about the whole process.

I'd link it....but I'm still in the vertical learning curve on this site.
