| Has anyone else seen a larger than usual amount of 9465s being used this year? Lately, I've had 5 and that is about 5 more than I had last year. The current economy is really hurting the average joe. | |

| I've included a 9465 as well as an explanation of payment options with the client packet as a matter of course for clients with large balance dues. Many clients of mine haven't figured out how to or if they can pay by the 15th, as they are sitting in my office picking up their returns. If I had to guess, historically maybe 15% of my clients use them.
It wasn't until this tax year that I was in a position to do anything other then a once a year consultation. Even, a distressing number of clients fail to follow through on the tax planning.

| Have you noticed that they don't follow through with changing their W-4's or increasing their withholding from retirement or paying the estimated tax...so frustrating when they fail to take good advise. I to include the 9465 with every client that owes a large amount and ask them to fill it out and send it back with their prep fee payment so I can file it with their return. The other thing I tell them is to make sure the first payment is made by the deadline.
What I have had more of this year is Promissory Notes for the prep fee. I only do this with clients that have had for years and when I know they are in a financial bind. taxea
