I just love this! I think I'll print a few hundred to hand out to clients about keeping business records.

I can almost hear the bubble gum popping:

She also testified that she had recorded “bits and pieces of it in 2005”, but she had to go back and “put some stuff in there at the current year * * * and refill some stuff in, based on my account list.” And she testified that she used her vehicles for personal purposes “very locally, like locally”.

She couldn't even win the $120 Tax Preparation fee!!! Needless to say, if that was what she paid for preparation, she wasn't about to hire a high price attorney to take the case to court.

I'd say the $120 preparer was overpaid. Where's them $99 divorce lawyers, when ya need to go to Tax Court?

Was the Court feeling sorry for the petitioner in allowing a deduction for dry cleaning the "logo'd shirts"?

Good read and thanks for posting it. Now when I say to clients "self-serving" hand-written notes may not be considered adequate substantiation, I can point to the TC summary.

Incidentally... her (the petitioner's) LinkedIn page is online. See - http://www.linkedin.com/pub/cristina-osorio/8/240/467

The page states that Cristina is "very organized" and has "great communication skills."

I think the evidence may suggest otherwise..

I wonder if some of these Tax Court petitioners realize that their case will be published in detail.

Ha! This has to be one of the funniest things I've read -- especially in combination with her LinkedIn profile!

Seems like the accountant's equivalent to "Headlines" from Jay Leno.

Did I miss something too? Was this Sch A unreimbursed employee business expenses? Those are relegated for the benefit of the EMPLOYER, no? Sounds like outside sales benefits HER more than the employer.

Still not reading the full thing, still a bit sick but that just struck me as "odd".

PS don't beat up on Sea, just getting back into the swing of things...hehe
