| Perhaps this is a non-issue, but the broker/custodian for the deceased's portfolio provided the Exchange stock symbol for equity positions....and the CUSIP for fixed income positions (i.e., bonds). These numbers come into play on the 706 - Schedule B.
Seems that equity transactions would also have a CUSIP number but will the IRS be satisfied with the stock symbol? The stock symbol would certainly enable any scrutiny they might exercise, but not sure how sticky they are about the CUSIP. | |

| Usually the only way you will have access to CUSIPs for stock is to have a subscription to the S&P, Moody's, etc. However, you can contact the company for which the stock is issued. They should know what their CUSIP is and are generally required by the SEC to provide it if requested. | |

| Discription by name woks just fine. I would use that instead of the symbol. | |
