This might be a basic question, but I cannot say I have run into this in a while. I have a new client who set up an LLC and requested a FEIN for the LLC online. For some reason (probably a data entry error) the name on the SS-4 that was received is missing part of their legal name. Is there an easy way to fix this?

When I first started preparing corporate returns 10 years ago, I had a client that legally changed their corporation's name and all I was advised to do was check the name change box and put FKA Former Name on the first return under the new legal name. Is this still an acceptable method of doing this?

Thanks

Thanks Mike. I actually found the same thing a little bit ago. If I understand correctly, I can just check the box on the 1065.
